firstshowing.net — "Let's jump right into it. Sarandon confirmed that the camera system they are using will have layered film so that both the front and back are in focus like a cartoon. Holy s**t, yep that's what she just said!"

Whether or not you liked the Matrix sequels, you have to admit, they went big. They were ambitious in their scope. I think that's what they meant.

I probably won't see it but hopefully it looks cool...

Many of the deep focus shots in Citizen Kane involved in-camera mattes and multiple film exposures, which would be very difficult with a moving camera. Some scenes were totally re-lit between the different exposures. If I had to guess, I'd say that Speed Racer might be using cameras that expose more than one frame at a time, i.e. two or more film reels running, each with their own aperture and shutter speeds.. This would somewhat accommodate a moving camera.

Or they weren't as worried about a kid seeing a movie that might make them think a little. Not everyone thinks movies need to be candy-coated for kids. It's no wonder they grow up with a skewed impression of the world.

First Sarandon says high-def, then talks about film. Not a reliable source of info if they can't even keep completely disparate technologies differentiated.

I think you guys get me wrong, this new camera must have NO lens distortion, like pocket cams with tiny ccds do (but have a wider focal lenght)

Hahahaha, naw, I'm actually doing my laundry right now as I'm reading your comment, and no I don't live with my parents anymore. I just figure the people who used to love the show back in the 80's would be very interested in a faithful film adaptation because it reminds us of our childhood in time where now we have to work and can't listen to Danger Mouse all the time, who is f**king awful by the way.
