gizmodo.com — Because of TiVo, iTunes and BitTorrent, TV's becoming obsolete. Like the music industry, the TV industry realizes that their tried-and-true business model is about to be useless, and its lashing out in panic. Unlike the music industry, who attacked its fans, the TV industry is attacking its own: writers. Gizmodo talks to both sides.

Except TV and Movie writers are by the very nature of their business freelance. If one group of writers ONLY worked for ABC and another ONLY worked for FOX, we'd have even less variety than we have now, since there would be no collaborations or anything. Fox would become "t**s and Ass TV", ABC would become "So Cute you want to Throw Up TV" and such. You think we'd be able to have The Simpsons and 24 on the same network if they just hired a group of writers on salary?

Not superior to the people, but I think people are better than "the medium". 98% of television is s**t, give or take 2%.

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/924338/the_writers_c ... is another great video which explains in slides with pictures from the strike lines how google may take over from the studios and how marc anderseen creator of the first popular browser netscape (and thus the world wide web) as we know it says the studios reaction to the strike may accelerate their demise.
