I didn't say that religious people were idiots, I said that a lot of idiots are religious. If you weren't a religious idiot, you'd doubtless have inferred that from my comment.
the real problem is: if there was a designer who designed the universe, who designed the designer? to create the universe you'd have to be pretty bloody intelligent, but whoever designed THAT person must be even MORE intelligent. This, of course, can be repeated ad infinitum. ID is the belief that we came from something greater. Evolution is theory that we came from something lesser. It makes a lot more sense that we started with very little than we started with some omnipotent being.
