snopes.com — America has entered one of its periods of historical madness, but this is the worst I can remember: worse than McCarthyism, worse than the Bay of Pigs and in the long term potentially more disastrous than the Vietnam War. The reaction to 9/11 is beyond anything Osama bin Laden could have hoped for in his nastiest dreams.

Beating the s**t out of them isn't exactly "being scared" of them. But then again, I bet you want us to stop hunting them down and exposing them and if need be, killing them too.

I believe the article was addressing the American consciousness as opposed to generalized comments as to the "truth" of the situation.

It is true. America really has gone mad. America is insane and the current American culture reflects this insanity. It is very hard for Americans to see and understand that the nation has become insane. They are used to bring told that America is the shining light of the world; this is not true anymore. The US government has transformed into something which almost all Americans never thought could ever happen. The US government in almost all situations has become a force for evil. In order to change this fact the American people are going to have to admit what the nation has become and then demand that liberty be restored; before it is too late.
