Eh so wrong in many levels. During a depression/recession its been proven that deficit spending is the way to go. Yes taxpayers pay back the money. However its on many parts like a loan. You take a large amount and pay it back in payments. Anywhoooo, http://eye20creativecorridor.com/history/great-dep ... timeline if you look at many of these timelines from the great depression all show a similar trend to todays era. Deficit spending in history show success for a depression. If we didn't learn off history imagine the told we would live in today.
A small comment on taxes and the stimulus programs that came about after the sub-prime bubble burst. The type of objection comes mostly from the Right and seems targeted at Big Government; unfortunately the mess of last year was caused by the same people calling for deregulation and crying over interference and needless regulation. Now I do not know if the author profited from those moves back in the 80's and 90's, but even if he didn't, he was at the very least duped by those who did. Finally, we took a hell of a hit last year, I did not see one economist pooh poohing the dire predictions of the politicians and civil servants and when I see the present situation and think about what could have been, I am thankful for the activism of the Obama administration. As for the extreme American Right and its present day manifestation, the Tea Party followers, let me share with them the words of the song,"We don't get fooled again."
