Patriot - I'm a little familiar with Mexico's immigration laws and restrictions on real property ownership by immigrants. Makes us look like a bunch of morons here in the US. It's quite a price we pay for those votes the Dems get.

Dude, I own a furniture store. If I can't afford to have a driver at $17/hr, well, I guess I'm either going to find another way to cut cost or get someone who would work for less. How much do you pay your employees? If it hurts your bottom line you are going to either eliminate positions or cut salaries. If the employees don't like it they can find another job. Remember, it's a business not a charity.

I pay my employees based on what the current industry pay range is, and by their experience level. If I found that my employees were able to go to most other shops and make more money, then I would have to increase the wage range I pay for that job. Then, the increased labor cost would be passed on as overhead. This is how most companies do it. I'm surprised you don't know that. Welcome to capitalism 101.If you can't find a qualified delivery driver for $17/hr., you need to survey the wages in your area for that job and adjust your expectations accordingly. Hiring illegals to keep from paying higher wages is the problem, not the solution. I'm sure you don't hesitate to raise your delivery charge when gas prices go up, so why the lack of understanding when wages go up?
