Heelys shoes are rediculously safe. I'm 30 and I just bought a pair 3 months ago and have only fallen 3 or 4 times total. They are a lot safer than a snowboard, sled, or skateboard.
Funnily enough we used to do that too. Shoot an arrow straight up which often meant losing sight of it and then standing waiting to see where it would come down. Thinking about it now it was pretty stupid but even at that age you have an innate grasp of real danger and probability.
