gizmodo.com— You're all familiar with the specs of the Extreme, so let's just skip to how it performed—later moving on to the problems we had.

I purchased if just for the simple fact that I didnt want a server running to I could have a NAT. Works great with my Western Digital Drive that sleeps when in active. Yea I know Nice. I could care less about the wireless N because I only have core Duo macbook. I will worry with there is a standard one day.
Well the article says "But if they already have a wireless router, AirPort Extreme has the ability to be set on "bridge" mode by just clicking a dropdown, and it totally just got out of the way of all DHCP, DNS, and routing. Everything was passed up to the D-Link. Usually doing this on other manufacturer's routers takes tens of minutes of configuration and rebooting, something we're glad to have skipped this time."So maybe not as many reboots this time.
Like I said "I call shenanigans" on this article. The xb360 compatibility is a MICROSOFT problem. Not only does he gloss over both the VPN and xb360 problem, upon further digging (no pun intended) it is not a problem related directly to apple but all 102.11n products.like i said, read my last post - I am not apple fanboy - but this article is complease bulls**t.
I am a huge Apple fan. I was just about to upgrade my parents home with wifi and thought Id check out the competition. If 802.11n isnt your thing, you should definitely consider checking out Belkins low-cost line "My Essentials". They make a great b/g 4-port wireless router for $50. This is an extremely cheap way to go, as even Lynksis wanted $70 for an equivalent unit. (FYI, these are Office Max prices). I dont miss not having Apple at all in this particular situation. More powerful signal than my Airport as well.
I have not don any maximum bandwidth tests, The Airport extreme does have far better coverage than my Dlink 624. I get a nearly perfect signal everywhere in my house now, while the the old g router, was nearly unusable on the far end. Also I replaces the Dlink AP2000+ used to bridge my XBox/Tivo to the main network, with a second Airport Extreme in WDS mode. Now Xbox shared videos, music and photo are way more responsive. It was frustating to scroll through playlists, etc with the "Extreme G" wifi from Dlink, which was supposed to be 100+Mbps. It's very responsive now.

ROTFL the graph reminded me of the graph that Steve Jobs did for the iPhone.

Apple is supposed to be plug and play. It makes no sense to install software, rather than just pNp like every other router.
