earvolution.com — Some of the bands on this list never produced one note of audible music, others needed real musicians to give them voice, a couple served as alter egos and one band is made up of puppets. Regardless of their corporeal status, in one form or another, these bands embodied the ethos of rock and roll.

What about Stephen and the Colberts!?

Despite missing Wyld Stallyns (along with Josie & the Pussycats, the Archies, the Impossibles, the Brady Kids, the Partridge Family, the Monkees, and others), I'm digging this because of some of the accurate insights regarding the Electric Mayhem, the Chipmunks, and the Boingers. The parody bands were not only brilliantly executed, but became a sign of status for the bands they parodied. In much the same fashion that being lampooned on Saturday Night Live means you've arrived.

I agree that this list is kind of skewed. The Blues Brothers Band is made up of some of the greatest musicians in the world. Neil Innes is a genius. There's a reason that music is so awesome. Dr. Teeth at number one is, however, perfect considering that suck great music is made by inanimate objects. If anything, this proves how important a good producer and engineer are to the quality of a record. If you are interested in a career in online radio check out the Radio Connection.
