lewrockwell.com — It is clear that the world’s system of states does not have a method of policing genocides, despite the fact that the states claim to be in the business of protecting citizens. Each gang (state) more or less respects the turf of the other gangs. In this way, each gang holds on to its power – the most important aim of the gang.

This explains why the UN makes genocide worse rather than preventing it. The "benevolence" of the UN is just another fraudulent bill of goods we've been sold.

@joybran"goods we've been sold" doesn't even work as a metaphor. Nobody had a choice as to whether or not to buy, or at least nobody has since the institution was founded. Your commercial metaphor insults legitimate commerce.

@ TarvokI stand corrected. You are absolutely right.

A great example of the efficiency of mercenary groups is the now defunct PMC Executive Outcomes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_OutcomesThough it wasn't perfect it was far preferable to any state-run military. Their only real crime was becomming too powerful which led the UN to create the mercenary ban. This is truely a sad world we live in when people are refused the only viable means of defense by the global community.
