skattertech.com — Info & Pics on Sony's 1998 product called the Pocket Station, which was released in Japan. (never made it to the U.S.) This was Sony's first attempt to make a "PSP-like" device during the Tomogatchi craze.

it was very popular at that time, play mini games and chat with each other.

I own one of those buggers. The controlling for that thing was icky and stiff and the pixel resolution was bearable enough to get a little detail. It's portable... like a PSP.. but the buck stops there.Played FFVIII's Chocobo-mini game on it and also Alpha 3's Pocket Alpha 3. The FFVIII game was monotonous and got a summon out of it that dealt 10000 hp damage all the time in the main game.Pocket Alpha 3, however, was really cool, lots of fun mini games to play and get those characters leveled up. It was sorta like having a Digimon/Tamagotchi, but better gameplay and no cleaning poop. Sucks I couldn't find anybody to match my characters against. It also took like 10 memory card blocks outta the 15 availble so it took a millenium to get it installed..Fun, quirky little gizmo that thing is.. for 1998.GBA/GC connectivity I think is the step up... that didn't seem popular either.. meh.. FF:CC was fun.

Wrong, it was their answer to the VMU. One very crappy answer.
