readwriteweb.com — The social bookmarking market is in a steady state with two dominant players - del.icio.us and StumbleUpon. The rest of the pack, including Yahoo MyWeb, appears to be substantially behind. Will they catch up?

It says: "We also did not profile social news sites (like digg)..."

I concur... I was surprised when I first came upon StumbleUpon that I hadn't seen it before. It was exactly what I was looking for in a social bookmarking site. Less of a link depository and more of a web-discovery tool... Its an awesome community too. There is no surprise that it leads the pack. At the risk of sounding like an advertisement. I have found the coolest sites by far through Stumbling than by any other means... (though Digg is great for recent web-finds and news-type items)

If only there was a hack for Safari that loaded your Del.icio.us bookmarks as a menu... oh wait there is! :)And you can find it with a quick search in Del.icio.us

I see a constant stream of ex-del.icio.us users coming over to Simpy[1] (which also acquired del.irio.us userbase a few months back).[1] http://www.simpy.com/

*sigh* "We also did not profile social news sites (like digg) or social shopping sites (like Kaboodle), as they will be profiled in separate R/WW posts."

I wrote a follow-up to the R/WW piece called Web Too.Many - The Real Social Bookmarking Face Off. http://engtech.wordpress.com/2006/09/20/web-toomany-the-real-social-software-faceoff/This is based on my (loose) analysis that it took 100+ bookmarks for me to get to the front page of del.icio.us but only 10 (!) to get to the front page of Furl. I got around 1500+ hits from del.icio.us but only 22 from Furl.

I use both del.icio.us and StumbleUpon. del.icio.us allows me to easily access my bookmarks quickly and StumbleUpon helps me find really cool sites.
