"I'm a Southpark fan from when it first began, but you must understand your intellectual life is impoverished." congrats, but i wasn't talking about southpark when it first began, i was talking about just the last few seasons. i must understand my intellectual life is impoverished? im curious as to what you know about my intellectual habits? are you just making an assumption because my comments don't typically contain words such as "exectrochemical"? or do you have so much time that you are actually checking all my digg comments and my amazon purchase history? do you have my reading list for school too? "to begin with you're worshiping at the altar of the new religion and that's not good for you because it's passive, electromagnetic interference of the electrochemical firing of your neurons, you're fed information from one source" i didn't realize that watching 3 hours of tv per week constituted worship. i guess i really am dumb."Seriously, I've been watching the Simpsons since the days of Tracy Ullman, but I can't say that you're going to get any really relevant satire from Simpson's, Family Guy, Southpark... it's more like softball criticism. It's catchy, it's pop, you get to share the sound bite highlights with your friends."at this point, i'm really wondering what your cridentials are. southpark et al. are stories, communicated with pictures and spoken language, which are the main transmitters of culture. i'm wondering what sort of next level thoughts are going through your head that are so far above what these shows are saying? i can't say the same for family guy, but both the simpsons and southpark are very keen, and are able to subtly poke fun at cultural traits which are absurd. what more do you want from satire? what is the basis for your analogy? softball is a game, with a set of defined rules, and animated programs are forms of creative expression. They may contain formulae, but in the literal sense, the goal is to tell a story, not win a game. i don't see the connection there..."On the other hand, if I invite someone to defend ideas they either can't or won't, then I'm like an intellectual troglodyte? Is that it? How does asking someone to explain their ideas make me not a brilliant critical thinker?" asking someone to explain their ideas does not mean that one isn't a critical thinker, quite the opposite. it was really the following quote, which prompted me to poke fun at you."HEY, EVERYBODY!! ISIfunded911 is morally and intellectually superior to you all because he reads Marxist literature. He is a communist and therefore you are all stupid" i realize this is the internet, but for a guy that seems to want everyone to to think he is right, this seemed an especially asinine thing to say. I assume you know what a critical thinker is, and anyone who knows anything about real debate would never say something like that. "ISIfunded911 is a troll and if you're defending him then you must be one of those digg hit squad my friends have told me about." i don't know what the digg hit squad is, but i make it a point to say something when i witness some especially splendid displays of pretentiousness. really no disrespect, but i will not respond beyond this, because like i said, i know enough people in real life who get really worked up and always will find something to challenge, and im sure since you are obviously such a smart guy you have a whole list of things in your head that you could spend pages ranting on about. so i will let you spread the love around the diggsphere. cheers.
