@TruthElixirX - I've always gotten a month after it actually expired when the domain was "locked" for renewal (for a .ca domain anyways) and my registrar started nagging me a month before the expiry, too.You have to be trying pretty hard to lose a domain.
Same Langford! The first time I even got into the venture of making my own website some squatter had the original domain i wanted (cityeyes) and he just had a bunch of ads on it, and now it's the same exact frickin way it was back when I wanted to create it.
I agree with several above that if it takes you 2 months to realise your domain is down (even after your site is down and you ignore the emails from the registrar) then it's your own fault. If you have a fake email address in the details of the domain then thats your fault too for giving fake info and not getting the reminders :)
I hate the way he says “domainer” it like trying to sprinkle sugar over cowdung to make it look like a chocolate cake. A Domain Squatter would be a more appropriate word. And its one of the dirtiest business on the internet. No wonder the Yun Ye guy never showed his face if he did people would have sued his ass off. So why do I sound so negative. Its because I faced a similar situation where some jerk registered a domain and I had to get legal help to get it back.

I just call them "scumbags". Spammers make money too but that doesn't mean people should be admiring them.
