Let me tell you that the Hell's Angels have historically been the largest producers and distributors of amphetamines and hallucinogens in North America... I think they showed up to Party, do a lot of drugs, and get paid to be security... 'hey, your event needs security, i know some guys... we'll do it cheep". or the organizers got strong armed into giving them the contract. There was a hell of a lot of LSD in those clips. dudes were freaking out.
this was one of the more interesting moments in US history.. it represents the end of the peace movement.. check out the work of californian artist sam durant and particulary the work entropy in reverse if you want to have an understanding of how the most influential country (for better or worse) was radically changed.. or go back to putting your head in a hole...

This is a clip from a documentary called "Gimme Shelter" which is an amazing doc. Everyone interested in this should check it out. It answers a ton of questions you are all raising here, and it shows everything leading up to the event.Funny trivia, George Lucas was a camera man at this event.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimme_Shelter_(documentary)

The gun is why they took him down. I'm talking about the part after that when they stabbed and beat him to death.
