signs-of-the-times.org — A look at a different aspect of the gun ownership debate by following the logic inherent in the idea that the keeping and bearing of arms is closely linked to freedom, in the specific situation facing the citizens and residents of the United States today.

I have always thought the American right to bear arms was an overly emotive debate, the main people in favour being mostly simple folk who like things that make a loud bang for their own amusement. Now this article makes an interesting point, the US constitution is under attack, the freedoms of the American people are being diminished and dying a death of a 1000 cuts as the current Administration modifies and redefines inconvenient constitutional rights that have stood the test of time. Every such reduction or limitation of freedom is a victory for Al Qaeda in a way they never imagined was possible. The right to bear arms was, in part, originally intended to defend these American freedoms - all these guns are currently not helping one bit.I have lived in both Australia and the UK, both countries with similar ideals and values regarding democracy, freedom and liberty as the US, these countries do not have this “Right to bear arms” enshrined or even discussed as a core part of their countries foundation, the world hasn’t ended in these countries for want of an armed populous, we just have a smaller instance of gun crime and murders than the US. So tell me, apart from killing kids in their own schools in regular batches, I have to ask, Can somebody let me know what all these American guns are good for?
