What can be said about Butler Shaffer? Well to start with he is a gentleman's gentleman... He's vigilant. He's acute and discriminating, sagacious, articulate and a damn fine writer!! He points well to the infractions and dismemberment of scruples by the nanny-state. He is simply a delight to read in sharing his thoughts and ideas. Shaffer, are you listening? You are an intellectual stalwart surrounded by intellectual midgets, glory whores, and political prostitutes of State — that have wrenched America from any reasonable chance of worldly success. The American state will slip further into its warranted abyss, a failed empire. None too soon. And yes, Albert Jay Nock, Frank Chodorov et al., are exceptional company not only to stand amongst but also to quote their insights of yesteryear. Woe to America. A woe that even the fastidious and capable Dr. Ron Paul can't save America from. It's best to watch it from afar...An Aceldama awaits...
I have long been of the opinion that the American public's view of the war is a function of how "well" it is going. The fact that the war itself is evil is of little concern to the majority of general public. If we were "kicking ass" then in my opinion bush the second would be politically untouchable.Since the war has gone badly bush has become a political millstone around the necks of the republicans. The democrat party bosses will do everything they can to keep the blood flowing up until at least the next election. This is why Pelosi took the impeachment issue off the table immediately after acquiring power. This is why they have abandoned Cindy Sheehan. This is why the hard-core anti-war activists within the democratic party are so upset with the "leadership." The politicians of both parties understand that the majority of the general public will go along with most anything their government mandates...but they will not tolerate a loser. Consequently the politicians of both parties have acted accordingly in a completely craven and morally bankrupt manner.
