gizmag.co.uk — "Manufacturers Reevu spent ten years developing the helmet, which has a built-in 180 degree unbreakable rear-view mirror system in the hope it will save lives on the roads by improving situational awareness and hence preventing accidents..."

thats cool, but why did it take then 10 years?

"how does it keep from showing you an upside down image? or does it..."Why would the image be upside down?Anyways, this "tech" will fail imho. The problem is people have been thinking of this for years but after researching it realized that it hurts as much as helps. It's just as easy to turn your head and check your blind spot before you change lanes. Then you have the problem with asshats with their brights on behind you (as previosly mentioned). And even IF the mirror(s) would help you've got the problem of them being stuck in a budget helmet. The only way people are going to buy these is if they license it and the major helmet manufacturers start using them. People are going to be much more likely to buy an Arai, Shoei, Suomy, HJC, KBC, etc than they are a Reevo.

I'll digg this because of the ad on the left for a "horse back riding machine". hilarious!

They should have done this with fiber optics instead of mirrors... and digital HUD on the visor. W/ a button to turn it on and off and auto-brightness correction. And put it in a Shoei helmet. Then, maybe I'd buy one.

Why don't you just turn your head before changing lanes?

Wow, this helmet was developed by UK engineers? I'm impressed, even though it DID take them 10 years to manufacture the product. I guess they were taking too many tea breaks and playing too much cricket. (I think I'm stereotyping England)

This would be a great innovation. I commute by motorcycle almost every day in Houston traffic, and would LOVE to have this kind of visual information. Most car drivers don't even see us motorcyclists. I've nearly been rear-ended when stopped, and sometimes drivers do the most unexpected things.I think Reevo could sell. New helmet manufacturers pop up all the time. Scorpion has only been around about a year and they've been pretty well received. As long as they are DOT or Snell rated, they should be able to sell them, as long as it's a decent helmet and the price is right.
