At least he didn't give some bulls**t response like "It's above my pay grade" like Dear Leader Obama. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mem_xEcZHVY

I'm not sure where you get this thing about the Bible from. The most-quoted Bible verse about abortion is King David saying that God knew him even when he was in the womb. (I don't know the exact verse, sorry.)There is certainly a close association between "Spirit" and "Breathe" in the Bible. The Holy Spirit is actually referred to as breath or wind. But it would be difficult to infer that life does *not* begin at conception when looking at the Bible -- I'm not even sure the Bible can be used to say that life *does* begin at conception, but I'm just pointing out that you're on thin ice with that statement.-Pie

"This ignores the fact that sperm can take days to reach an egg, "The "can" in that statement is the key. As I said, the morning after pill causes a *very* early term abortion if conception has taken place. (BTW, I never said I was for or against the morning after pill, I was simply relaying the general philosophy behind Christian opposition to that pill.)"The fact the Mary is the 'ultimate virgin' kind of shows that it is virginity that is highly prized."Sure, virginity is highly prized. In all cultures, even ours, it's a special thing. But re-read my statement in context. I was responding to a statement that women only have value if the woman's child is her husband's. The family of Christ -- a KEY component of Christianity -- completely contradicts that statement.-Pie

When I talk to women who think that voting for McCain Palin is a good thing for women, a step forward I ask them if they know their record and stand on issues for women. Firstly McCain is all for Viagra being paid for by insurance companies but doesn't believe it's important for birth control to be as well. (Great just what we need more guys with erections and less protection against pregnancy for women, that's really going tom drop the rate of unwanted pregnancies. And that "my friends" is how you really lower the need for abortions. That and making sure that women who choose to give birth to a child that they can't afford or don't know how to take care of are given the things they need so they don't continue the cycle of poverty and keep children out of the social services and foster care system.) Anyways I'm off topic. I tell women that not only does McCain have an abysmal record on voting on women's issues, he also has said that he wants to get judges on the supreme court that would overturn roe vs. wade. What makes this a great concern right now is that there are several judges who are getting really old who will probably be leaving the supreme court one way or the other in the next few years. We know how Palin feels about abortion. She's so extreme that if a 12 yr old was raped and impregnated by a family member that she would not support that child being able to get an abortion. She is so fanatical that even if it was her own child she would oppose it. Reversing roe vs. wade would not result in no abortions, it would result in it becoming a privilege for the rich while poor and middle class young women bleed to death and die from infection. The rich can afford to go to another country for an abortion, the poor will be left with back alley Dr.'s and coat hangers. There is a great song by Digable Planets called femme fatal: /"it has always been around it will always have a nichebut they'll make it a privilege not a rightaccessible only to the richpro-lifers should dig themselvescause life doesn't stop after birthand to a child borne to the unpreparedit might even just get worsesupporters of the h-bomb and fire bombing clinicwhat type of s**t is that? Orwellian in factif roe v wade was overturned wouldnot the desire remain intactleaving young girls to risk their healthsand doctors to botch and watch as they kill themselves"
