During the parade, the river and bridges in the city is definitely supposed to reflect the city of Chicago.

That's because that is almost exactly what the Gotham City of Batman is. Its an amalgamation of Chicago and Detroit with a dash of New York. Its nowhere, which is an attempt to make it more acceptable to more people.

It's a fictional city. That means it's not real and it is not New York OR Chicago. When the Lord of the Rings movies came out were people debating where exactly in New Zealand Middle Earth is located? Jesus-tap-dancing-Christ.
