nytimes.com— The market-driven system was the preferred policy for tackling climate change a year ago, but now it is in wide disrepute.

The problem with warming temperatures means also more water in the atmosphere, so more rain when it's above freezing and more snow when it's not.I don't live in the local flood plain, so as a whole transplanting my current climate with that of South Carolina's... not a bad thing, but if I lived in the fire zone of California or in an area prone to flooding... I'd be upset.Doom and Gloom due to climate change... as you point out it's far more complex than that. Some areas will benefit; others will be hurt. But to knowingly change the system when A) we won't be alive to feel that change and B) aren't in a position to negate the negative side effects future generations of Americans will face... I would call unwise and imprudent. Our countries biggest problems, such as our debt comes from a dis-valuing of the adverse long term consequences. Create a Social Security system that pays current retires with the money paid by current workers... What happens when there are so many retirees there aren't enough workers to pay out benefits? Create ever expanding Health care entitlement programs without seriously containing costs... Even if our current health system doesn't meet the needs of millions today, both the long term dangers that effect everyone (Health care prices rising 7% last year while CPI and real income fall) and the immediate concerns have to be addressed.I'm not necessarily for big government. What I demand is smart government. It needs to have the power to do what the public demands of it... if that's the Digg definition of socialism then I suppose I'm a socialist- but it has to be capable to deliver, accountable when it does not, and able to change direction when it errors.
Hint: any time something is being traded between two unrelated parties, its a market. Really, the only way to create a market is within a socially organized and accepted framework...such as a government.
Since productivity is not slowing quickly enough to satisfy congress (and the lefties), they had to come up with something to speed up the slow down of productivity. They need to get deficit spending to exceed productivity in order to bring on economic collapse. That will put us into the state of crisis that can bring down our present form of government. That is the change that is planned for us.The Soviet Union fell right after deficit spending exceeded productivity. Productivity had gone into a steep decline while spending was increasing. Just like here right now.
No, you're bleating unintelligibly. You should really study the history of this. You will find that we were supposed to have had three biblical cataclysms by now. You see when it started it was "WE ARE DOOMED IN 5 YEARS!" Five years later: "WE ARE DOOMED IN TEN YEARS!" Ten years later: "WE ARE DOOMED IN FIFTY YEARS AND IF YOU CALL US LIARS YOU JUST DENYING THE INEVITABLE OR YOU ARE BOUGHT OFF BY THE OIL COMPANIES!"basically, You are arguing that I need to provide proof. I say I have been watching long enough that I am not the one who needs to supply proof. I need proof that this whole thing is not a scam.
Misseur Sarkozy is getting France away from cap and trade. He says it is for economic reasons but I think he is like me, bored with all the eco-bull-crap that has kept this lie going for 25 years with no real change in neither climate nor weather as predicted.I find myself scarcely able to believe that I wish I was in France right now. GO FRANCE!!! Wow does it feel weird to type that.
Well global warming as an eco-scare-tactic is drawing to a close. We will be fighting global cooling soon and there will be "Scientists" running around telling you that Carbon Dioxide is actually the reason why the atmosphere is losing heat rather than gaining.
There were plenty of people protesting throughout the process. If anything all I can say is that the intensity died down after the holidays. Why is that the case? Attention span?
Still no citations, keithschricker? The last decade has been the warmest on record. The one before was the precedent record-holder, as was the one before it.AGW is supported by empirical evidence. You, on the other hand, have *no* evidence to support your position. You lose.

"CO2 is beneficial"Not when there's too much of it. Hint: it won't make plants grow faster.
