stpeteforpeace.org— On September 11, 2001, nearly 3000 Americans were killed. Since then, about 10 million Americans have died of preventable causes.

Although I agree with the basic premise of this photo, stop for a moment to consider the terrorism deaths that could have resulted from aiming for a nuclear reactor instead of the WTC. What if terrorists used biological weapons or dirty bombs instead?Make no mistake. One serious incident could make that chart look like child's play.
I think it's pretty clear the invasion was all about securing an oil rich domain, after all America is the greatest consumer of oil in the world. All the justifications given were only the most convenient ones at the time, something us western nations were (partly) ready to accept. My favorite one being the disarming of Saddam Hussein's arsenal, mostly weapons provided by the USA in the past, right?
this graph is ridiculous. of course tons of people will die over the course of 6 years from many different causes. you're telling me something i already know. how can you use this fact to downplay the horrible tragedy of 9/11? Many of perfectly healthy people with many years left of their lives were murdered at the hands of a group of foreigners. Its sickening that people can so easily disregard 9/11 and treat it like its not a big deal.if 3,000 people are insignificant then why are all the people digging this article also making a huge deal about the number of soldiers lost in Iraq?
It's not a threat in the first place. They're lives regardless and you can compare them to cancer, smoking, etc. just as you can with any other statistic about death. They don't suddenly become forbidden because you have emotion attached to them. Even if 100,000 people died from terrorism, it would pale in comparison to many of the death counts in this chart.
Meaning those who are most fit to survive in society. So a brain surgeon who is massively valuable to society is not as fit for that society if he has a heart attack from stress than a fat, layabout nobody (you) who just happens not to have been consumed by their own negligence and died yet ?
i personally think the time-frame to this graphic is a little thrown off, yeah sure millions of people will die over years, we're not going to live forever. but if you think about these numbers in account for the few hours that about 3.000 people died, well i'm sure they would be much less intimidating than what this country did go to war for.
