bravenewfilms.org — Gas prices are hitting all-time highs. Our country is in the midst of a recession thanks in part to our crippling dependence on oil, so what's John McCain's plan? Will he hold the corporate leaders of the energy industry accountable when he addresses them today in Houston? Probably not, considering they are some of his biggest fund-raisers.

Yes, McCain needs to start taxing oil companies and continuing to bar companies from drilling for oil in the US. That will surely make gas prices lower.

BraveNewFilms only needs to do a video stating two facts:1)-New research out of Princeton from Larry Bartels shows that wage growth is double for the middle class when a Democrat is president compared to when a Republican is president.2)-According to analysis from the non-partisan Tax Policy Institute (this was reported on CNN), 90% of American would pay less income taxes under Obama's proposed tax plain compared to McCain's plan. Specifically, if you make less than $112,000 a year individually (it's NOT household income, it's individual income), you will pay less in income taxes under Obama's plan. Ok fiscal conservatives, go ahead and explain to me how in the hell you're going to vote for McCain with that knowledge? Go ahead, do a google search and confirm it for yourself. And once you do, you'll have to go through some serious delusion to insist that voting for McCain makes sense.

to isparadiselost 06/18/2008!Kudos!Among all the moronic prattle comments on the issue of the oil crisis comes a voice of logic and reason. People - go take note of what this person said. For you people who think it's just the greatest thing to confiscate the oil companies profits just remember that many retirees have their monthly incomes tied up in oil company stocks through their 401k plans. They are called "dividend" payments. When Barack Obama talks about taking the oil companies profits he is in fact saying he wants to take money out of the pockets of our senior citizens!Put your time machine hat on and go back to the 1970's when certain groups, mostly transplanted communists taking up the extremist environmentalism movement banner, managed to stop additional nuclear power plants and oil refineries from being constructed in this country. That wasn’t the Republicans doing that; it was the Democrats! If they hadn't achieved their goal; we wouldn't be having this conversation now about the energy crisis we are in! Any of you who supported that idea please give yourself a whack on the back of the head. You deserve it!Here's a challenge to all you people who think it's better to save the planet while allowing the people to suffer a slow and painful death due to a collapsed economy because of runaway oil prices - Check out this link to a company that has come up with a process using algae to make diesel, jet fuel, and other useful products. I have also included their contact information toward the bottom of this post. Using an area of land equal to only 1/10th the surface area of New Mexico for this process; America could be energy independent plus be pulling excess CO2 out of the air, which the algae requires during the manufacturing process. This would reduce the “greenhouse gases” that people like Al Gore are so fired up about. Why would they not be all over this process?<a class="user" href="http://www.valcent.net/i/misc/Vertigro/index.html">http://www.valcent.net/i/misc/Vertigro/index.html</a>If they can't get on board with this process then they are showing just how big a bunch of hypocrites they really are. I am including the text I sent off to several of my government officials and other connected individuals in the “supposed” "global warming" crisis. Watch to see how quickly they come out in favor of getting this process going in as many states as possible. That will show whether or not they are interested in the American people and the environment; or the money going into their pockets from kickbacks and "carbon credits". I have not spared either side from this challenge.I would also recommend that you go learn about and then add your support to the FairTax Act of 2007. In getting rid of the IRS and the income tax, and replacing it dollar-for-dollar with a national sales tax, we would have more of “our money” in “our pockets” to help pay for the heinous cost of fuel and groceries until fuel costs get back in line.A happy thought for any liberals reading this – The FairTax would finally force all those evil ultra-rich fat cats to pay their fair share of taxes. With the end of the IRS; so would come the end of filling 1040’s. It is through our convoluted tax code that these people weasel out of paying little or no taxes at all. As a bonus we would be collecting taxes from foreign visitors every time they buy a meal, rent a room, rent a car, go to an attraction, etc. and they would be eligible for not one single benefit from it! Let’s not forget those wonderful illegal aliens visiting our fair land who don’t file a 1040; and therefore don’t pay any taxes either. With the FairTax the same rules that apply to our foreign visitors would apply to them. Last, but certainly not least, are our friendly neighborhood criminals who make all kinds of money from prostitution, drugs, gambling, and pornography. They don’t file 1040’s either. There you go! They wouldn’t be able to get out of paying taxes either. They have to eat, buy news cars (you know how those pimps love their new rides), new homes, new boats, etc.In case it didn’t hit you yet; you would no longer have withholding taken out of your paycheck! Wouldn’t you rather have the choice of when and how much tax you pay by how you choose to spend your hard earned money? Right now the federal government sees you as a bottomless piggy bank they can crack open any time they want to.There would no longer be any “exemptions” so everyone would have to pay their taxes. So that the FairTax would be truly fair; it has a provision called a “prebate” that would pay back each “legal” head-of-household in America each month the FairTax that family (based on size – not income) would have been calculated to have spent on the basic necessities of life. Everyone could file for it from the poorest to the richest families in America; but obviously the poorest would benefit from it the most, as it would represent a bigger percentage of their monthly income. From the federal level those families at or below the poverty level would be tax free. That’s not only fair; it’s progressive too! What self-respecting liberal wouldn’t go for that? You spend more – you pay more. Who has more to spend? That’s right – those evil rich fat cats like George Bush, Dick Cheney, Al and Tipper Gore, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, Barack and Michelle Obama, just to name a few. Or should they be exempted? I don’t think so; any more than I think all those oil company executives should be exempted. Fair is Fair! Why is it then that the Democratic party doesn’t seem to like it? Could it be that they like being able to pull your strings via the tax code? There are some Republicans that are in the same gene pool. Even John McCain is against it! Why? Because he read in the Wall Street Journal that someone said it might cause our tax rate to go up to 30%! He doesn’t seem to understand that with what we pay in income tax, plus the withholding for social security and Medicare taken out of our pay checks, we are already paying over 40% right now! McCain is an economic neophyte when it comes to the FairTax! He’s right on fighting terrorists; but he is clueless when it comes to the economy. He’s taking the word of a reporter, instead of the economic experts who spent millions of dollars to verify it will work; and do it with a 23% "inclusive" national sales tax, that the rate would be 30%. Inclusive means that means the tax is part of the price you pay for something; not added on to it the way a state sales tax is done. If this rings a bell with you then go check out www.fairtax.org and become part of the solution. Ask yourself which is better - trying to support social security and Medicare with 165 million tax paying workers in America; or supporting the system with 300+ million Americans, 12 - 20 million illegal aliens, 50+ million foreign visitors annually, plus the multi billion dollar criminal underground economy? The answer is simple isn't it?Meanwhile – back to the algae issue and the email I sent to a lot of folks. I changed the salutation to address each person I sent it to. Feel free to use all or any part of my email to send to your “helpful” “responsive” government officials and all the people on your mailing lists too. Remember – a grass roots movement begins with the people - you and me.Dear Senator Nelson, I want you to contact this company and find out what all you can do to help fund their process called High Density Vertical Growth (HDVG) on a very large scale. It uses algae to produce oil that can be turned into diesel fuel and make jet fuel; among other things. It can produce more than 20,000 gallons of oil per acre per year vs. 18 gallons of oil per acre per year from corn. Using corn to produce ethanol is only causing our food costs to go up; and does nothing to help sequester CO2 from the atmosphere as the High Density Vertical Growth process does. What better way to produce the energy America needs than to do it with a process that reduces CO2 in the air at the same time? It has been calculated that if only one tenth of the area of New Mexico were used for this process America could be "completely" energy independent. Even the byproducts from this process are useful. Anything from producing animal feed, to fertilizer for re-nourishing the soil, to producing ethanol fuel. We must take a serious look at getting this process going in every part of the United States where the climate allows it to work. It is environmentally responsible so those concerned with our environment should want to get on board as quickly as possible. If not; their motives should be brought into question along with any other group that doesn't support it - including the oil industry. We could see gasoline for well under $1a gallon again while helping to reduce the greenhouse effect as a byproduct! The excess fuel produced could be exported to other countries that need cheep energy to improve the lives of their citizens. This would improve our economy at the same time. Our trade imbalance would be greatly reduced! That will make the United States stronger in the global marketplace. We could significantly weaken countries like Iran, Venezuela, North Korea, and others who are helping to fund terrorists bent on destroying America. Less money to them in oil revenues means less money they have to give to terrorist groups. I am also sending this information to Senator Mel Martinez, , Representative Ric Keller, Governor Charlie Christ, Senator John McCain, Newt Gingrich, President Bush, Senator Barack Obama, and Al Gore to encourage them to help spread the word and get this going. I am also sending this to all my e-mail contacts so they are aware of this process as well; and can forward the information to all their senators and representatives and e-mail contacts too. I respectfully ask for a personal reply from you regarding this issue rather than the usual form letter. This video may not do justice to Mr. McCain. But, we've seen him in the debates, and are constantly bombarded by his sound bites on the news along with Mr. Obama. We know that both of these candidates go back on what they say. For example Mr. Obama originally said he would not vote for FISA, and did. FISA is all about giving immunity to companies that aid the government in domestic spying. Who will protect our privacy? Our rights? Certainly I do not trust Mr Obama or Mr. McCain to do so. Mr. Bob Barr on the other hand was the only candidate to vote Against FISA. If you are feeling that neither of the mainstream candidates that the media wants us to vote for are right for our lead our country or protect our rights. visit Bob Barr's website for a third option, and read about his stance on the issues. <a class="user" href="http://www.bobbarr2008.com">http://www.bobbarr2008.com</a>
