burn-osx.sourceforge.net — In response to this morning's 'A Better Way to Burn' ad that found its way to the front page I present to you a real alternative. The Open Source "Burn" does everything expensive packages do and more. It's the best burning app of its kind on any platform. And best of all it's free!

Burn is a great program, but it's missing all the bells and whistles that Toast has, especially with the new version 8.My favorite is their Lightscribe support. I work in music and am constantly using lightscribe discs and the lightscribe software that came with my Lacie drive is TERRIBLE. Not only does it crash 1/2 the time, but it's just clunky and awkward to use. The Lightscribe labeler in the new Toast is a Godsend and makes it worth the $80 alone!I know not everyone will feel that way, but there are those of us that don't mind dropping $80 for programs that can make our lives a lot easier. It also doesn't hurt that I can charge it back to the company!

@firehedI dont think you used Toast very much. It is far more than just "a somewhat more visual version of what's built in". To many to name. Toast isn't for everyone. But I haven't found another app out that has as much to offer. If you're looking for the most feature rich then Toast is your best bet.Something pretty Discosomething simple Burn

Um nope, multisession discs for one. It's still a good little app though...

Can someone explain why this made it on Digg? Ever heard of iTunes?

Toast created 4 DVD coasters. I gave up and downloaded Burn. All went well. I have abandoned Roxio and all its products.
