I haven't found a reason to use XML, I use AHAH, that is, to send plain HTML instead of XML. You can send javascript there and it works as expected.Much faster in the browser, and easier to maintain too. However, I have not made any "fancy" graphical effects, just a fast and responsive "AJAX" application.
