Sweet I was waiting for a HowtoForge guide for Debian 4.0. I am going to be using this one to setup a computer that I am going to be using for my senior project.

If you fetch all the dvd-images, you won't have to fetch packages :)

I was more irked by the fact that proftpd was used, whereas pure-ftpd is just better.I'll probably get around to following this tutorial for fun. I just need the smallest case I can find so it sits neatly next to the router.

Ubuntu isn't so good for a server, and that was never its goal. Debian, Slackware, the *BSDs, etc have always been the best alternatives for a server, or for any computer that doesn't need X (but might have it), and has to be up as long as possible. Ubuntu (and a beta version of it) is not stable enough ("stable" here means "the packages won't change") for this kind of setup.

Debian 4 with Xfce is the bomb baby. Ubuntu is Debian Jr - Perfect for kiddies but not for the big boys.

While I certainly agree with your statement, my customers (who only know how to FTP by opening a site in Windows Explorer), would viciously disagree!
