which is the reason why the public option is importanthowever, without the public option they would have to create caps that can be chargedyour statement seems to infer that right now insurance companies are breaking even, and in order to maintain that will need to push costs to consumers if they have to start paying claims (wouldn't that suck for them! paying claims when people actually need insurance because they get cancer... I mean, common cancer kids, learn some self cancer curing responsibility!!!), however, they are not breaking even, they are making more and more profit year by year, it turns out that when you are in the business of providing a service for a cost, but then find creative ways to deny service, while still collecting costs, you will continue to make money regardless of how the economy is doing.did that answer your question?oh... wait... i just read your screen name... my post is in vain!
JosephStalin: they'll lose money unless they change their ways, because they won't be able to refuse coverage or charge outrageous amounts for pre-existing conditions.
Conservatism = Big, obese pasty white men(Newt, Huckabee, Rove, Dick Armey, John Boehner (okay, he's a fakebake guy)Sorry, dude. You don't know your political ideologies from you left nostril. Fascism (spelled with only a capital 'F' -- not all caps, btw) is a right-wing political ideology, begun in Italy after WWI which gave rise to the right-wing dictator, Benito Mussolini. Let me tell ya, Il Duce, as he liked to be called, was noooo lefty. Thus, opposite end of the spectrum from 'socialism' (which is spelled with 's' -- again, not all capitals.) Socialism, with a capital 's' as in the meaning for the acronym 'Nazi' pertains to National Socialists. Again, an uber (pardon the usage) right-wing movement. But keep listening to Fatty Weepy (aka Glenn Beck) and Fatty Angry (aka Rush druglord). They know just the right buttons to push to keep manipulating and exploiting the ingnorant, the poor and the underserved, who are themselves, too stupid, too uneducated and too suggestable to see they have become Teabagger Tools. Poor people, I do feel badly for them (you?)To quote the lovely Sarah Marshall, from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"..."And you know what? Let me tell you something about these tattoos, okay. That is Buddhist, that is Nordic, that is Hindu, that's just gibberish. They are completely conflicting ideologies, and that does not make you a citizen of the world, it makes you full of s**t!"
@estraderBelieve it or not the Dept of energy has done some good thingsHow does the FDA increase costs in medicine, do they get money from taxes on them? I have no idea. We have competition here...do you really think the elderly are going to switch providers when they had one job for 45years and haven't moved from there home town? Paying fines won't be a problem since people will be forced into taking the public option then. How can they have a monopoly if the government is involved and has a share??No one here agrees with federal bailouts. No duh the money is being taken out of peoples pockets, its called taxing. Of course everything the government does isn't the most effective use of capital. I don't need to wonder what a private company would do with that, you won't have a private company who controls all the things the government does because they would push for the most profits not what is best for the people. By better use you mean making more profits. Understand what you're saying please ;)
"Would you like to campaign to eliminate Social Security and Medicare?"How about letting us Opt out? I'm 32 now, and Have paid in since I was 14. Keep it all, and let me keep 15.5% of my gross pay going forward to invest for retirement. I'll be a hell of a lot better off.
Seems like a great step in the right direction for the US.But I still much prefer Canada's system of universal coverage (and only needing insurance for prescriptions and eye/dental care, which costs very little).

yeah, and it's a shame those baby boomer only paid into the system for their entire working life, and somehow will 'overburden' the system.

There is a controversy because and I quote "If we can beat Obama on this Health Insurance bill, we can break him." It's a political power play, and it's very mean spirited. <a class="user" href="http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/president-obama/audio-of-jim-demint-saying-health-care-will-be-obamas-waterloo/" rel="nofollow">http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/president-obama/ ...</a><a class="user" href="http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/07/20/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5175035.shtml" rel="nofollow">http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/07/20/politics/p ...</a>

I like Obama and everything, but it's still going to be the same as it always was. It won't be as easy as he says it will be.
