almanazir.com — Using Industry standard image quality testing of the Nokia N70 camera phone, resulted in some very surprising and disappointing results. The camera in nearly all the tests underperformed a Motorola Razr with a VGA camera.

What he determined was the particular loaner phone he received for the review focused to the right of an image instead of the center. The headline is wildly inflammatory (and inaccurate, it suggests purposeful wrongdoing by Nokia). Testing one specific phone and finding a problem with it doesn't mean that there is a "hoax" involved.Marked as inaccurate.

I'm glad you work in the field, because you can't take your camera phone into most government buildings and a sizable number of corporate offices. Increasing the image quality will only accelerate them being seen as security risks and the commensurate banning from the workplace.

I've used N70 for over a year now and I haven't anything to complain about. Here is a picture I've taken. http://img47.imageshack.us/my.php?image=08062006940vs3.jpg

You can't expect really high quality photos from a small camera module attached to a mobile phone even if it is 2MP. But if you have a phone attached to a digital SLR...that's a different story.

The N70 has an awful still camera, lame video capture and slow, laggy menus.I've owned one for over a year and used it a LOT. It's still s**te, but I've not seen anything significantly better.

The test conducted if you read the article are what Nokia specifies in order to test the image resolution of the camera phone. So they must mean something if this is how nokia actually tests.

I tend to like Nokia phones the best, the bluetooth seems to be the most reliable (in my experience) in the nokia and the camphones seem better, too. I had a vga nokia camphone (3650) and "upgraded" to a 2mp sony camphone which took worse pix than the vga nokia. So I went back to my vga nokia (cuz i use the phone cam alot). Eventually i got a nokia N80 and that totally rocks; 3mp cam w/ flash, macro, fm radio, mp3 player, really advanced web browser, WiFi, all that stuff. My next phone will be the next version of my phone, a nokia N95 when it comes out cuz it'll have a 5mp cam and gps on top of the N80 features. cnet asia review: http://tinyurl.com/y7lf6z Also, it's been my experience that the bluetooth headsets work best w/ nokia phones. It can be hard to find really good phones in the US, so I buy mine unlocked from import sites, i got my n80 from wirelessimports.com: http://tinyurl.com/y58jdm Just my $0.02 worth.

Nokia = garbage. We stopped buying nokia after two of them died on me and my wife, just out of warranty. One had a bloated battery, half dead LCD screen, and a hands free which would drain the battery in 5 minutes. The other would go off at random and display junk characters on the screen. If Nokia phones were made by flying pigs I doubt they could be worse.Nokia was good 10 years ago, some of my most rugged phones were Nokia. They're nowhere like that today.
