techcrunch.com — Unfortunately, Apple hasn?t really done much with the Lesson Store since its debut in January. At launch, it featured 18 ?basic lessons? (nine each for guitar and piano), along with ten ?artist lessons? which feature accomplished musicians showing how to play their songs. It was a decent selection to begin with, but it was hardly comprehensive.

Price is their biggest problem. I've been wanting to get one, but I can't really justify paying $229 for something that basically just bridges the gap between my computer and television.

you're kind of missing the point.the lessons are aimed at people who just want to pick up an instrument and be shown how to play a song that they like proficiently enough to get through the whole thing without screwing up.this is a common mistake that a lot of other audio specialists make all the bloody time: they think everyone with a guitar and a computer is looking to record an album. 90% of 'musicians' just want to know how to play their favourite tunes and having an avenue where the artists themselves guide you through playing the song you want? hell, that's worth WAY more than 5 dollars. it's a complete bargain as-is, especially when compared to looking online and finding Joe Internet's "this is how I THINK this song is played" website or youtube channel. if Apple put some effort into it, this could be HUGE with amateur home musicians.

Well, I had written how I had actually gone through the lessons and listened to them, and they were really helpful. But then I thought..."who gives a s**t if I did that". And then I went and "f**ked myself", as I would have been undoubtedly instructed to do.

It's hard to find good music lessons on the web. I found a great (and somewhat unusual) piano lessons site at http://www.quiescencemusic.com Teaches you how to play piano in the New Age style.
