Yes, you're right, those do suck. Those are what the japanese refer to as "Shounen" anime...Shounen being japanese for boy. Meaning, it's aimed toward little boys! Final Fantasy is stupid too, despite not being aimed specifically toward children, because it's swamped with emo bulls**t. The premise of the story in a few of the FF games are pretty solid, but it's hard to see that through all the emo guys with enormous hair and even more enormous swords.If you want to see something that's not childish, go watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. These things are so far from infantile they'll blow your mind. Or, if you want something a bit lighter, but still not childish, try Cowboy Bebop. It manages to blend old spaghetti-western style with gritty film noir, dystopian sci-fi, crazy cyberpunk, and kung fu films. All with an epic jazz soundtrack.Of course, you sound like the sort of guy who's already made up his mind about such things, so you probably aren't gonna try any of those. Just know that it's severely racist to think that the ethnic background of the creators of a series inherently determines its quality.
