last100.com — “Within 10 years more people will be accessing the Internet from their mobile . . . than in the home from a PC,” said Geraldine Wilson, vice president of connected life at Yahoo! Europe. “In emerging markets most people’s first contact with the Internet will be with a mobile phone.”

I used to agree as well, but now I am typing this on my SCH-i760 from inside a coffee shop. With the advancement of hardware and software with Opera mini (and safari mobile) I really think mobile internet is starting to grow.

I hate when someone mentions 'mobile web'. People, this is the normal web, just on better mobile devices. WAP, 'mobile tailored html content', etc. were/are retarded backformations, the result of rudimentary technologies back in the end of '90s. In 10 years (in fact, in...3 years) a mobile device will just be another device like the PC, to browse the web (it kinda' already is) The distinct "mobile web" is nonsense.

Are these posts automated or are there actually morons that waste their time doing it?

It seems to be trending the other way right now. Sites are getting more elaborate and less likely to be usable on a small screen mobile browser.

" I'm not seeing this as a possibility unless providers actually offer more economical unlimited plans."I pay just £5 per month for unlimited web access here in the UKthanks to an excellent Nokia N73 and the 3 internet company. The mobile web isn't coming....its here already.

Though the mobile web will continue to grow rapidly with the introduction of new products and technologies such as the iPhone, I do not think that it will surpass laptop or PC usage. While it is nice to check a few emails and check sports scores from your phone, many functions are annoying to use on such a small screen. For entertainment and business connectivity purposes, the mobile web will grow but not to surpass web usage by PCs.
