mediamatters.org — Did you hear that "some are saying" Barack Obama's inauguration will cost "$160 million," which is $100 million more than George W. Bush's last swearing-in? That's the tale the crew at Fox & Friends was telling on January 15.

$170 million. No problem, just take it out of the $850 billion your are going to borrow for your stimulus plan. Add the lost output of the 4 day MLK/Inaurgural weekend. You government workers should be ashamed.

Waiting, this is a democracy. If you are not happy with the policies your electorate puts in place do something about it instead of complaining about it on the internet.Fact is, you use the services provided, you pay the fee's associated. If you want more clarity, or specific policies, like I said, find someone and do your damndest to get them elected. Also, due to city/state lines, private companies, and even cities, can not do larger projects, for example new freeways, without extreme bureaucracy, which is why having a strong federal government is important. The federal government, due to the interstate trade clause is able to circumvent the bulls**t that independent cities or communities would have to go through, in order to make large scale projects, which is why the Federal Government was able to do a project like the Freeway system in the US, when no "community" could.

I know, but that's a war spread out over an entire country, the costs of which probably include a lot of tertiary military stuff that is only tangentially related to the actual Iraq war.I'm just somewhat surprised of the cost of protection squeezed into a tiny space. $115 million is still a lot of money.
