This is in general why I don't like american-made movies. They are fine for killing a couple hours but Americans expect everything to be spoon fed to them. They can't handle not having everything explained to them. Draw your own conclusions. End the movie how you want to. It makes you part of the creative team.
What if someone manages to break into your premise, catches you off guard at this moment, points a gun at you, and is about to pull the trigger?Don't you wish you spent less time looking at The Matrix explanations webpage?.. or would you quickly swallow that red pill?
The first film was good because it was a stolen script. The sequels obviously had to make s**t up in order to capitalize on the success of the first film -- you can tell how the quality of the story went to s**t and the films tried so hard to make it seem like they were continuing the script from the first film.
