Apple just announced the .16-inch thin MacBook Air -- a laptop so thin it fits in a manila envelope. The new machine features a full-size keyboard and LED-backlit 13.3-inch display with built-in iSight, and the new larger trackpad supports multi-touch gestures..16 of an inch, that is pretty amazing. Unfortunately no pictures of it yet though.
Nice. The features, size, weight, multitouch and SSD option are great for any mobile person (writers, students, consultants for example). I only wish the Jonny Ive had used silver or white keys like with the MBP or new iMac keyboard. And in 2.0 they should somehow add 3G/Wimax to it ;-)
Since the power consumption of a solid state drive is a fraction of that of a standard hard drive, I wonder how drastically that will affect the 5-hour battery life estimate.

Answering my own question... kinda. Fellow from SanDisk says: "It's actually gonna last about 10 to 15 percent more battery time." The laptop he is speaking about isn't a MacBook Air, but I would think it's fairly comparable.Full interview here: http://digg.com/hardware/Video_A_look_at_the_MacBo ...
