elbruz.org— ...and other such lake/island records, such as the largest island in a lake on an island. Maps and/or photos for each one.

Send some to Brisbane, HUKI365!I love it how they put 'other lake/island records' as if everyone likes a good lake/island recordMeanwhile, in other lake/island records...
wrong im afraid...if you include all land masses surrounded by water then australia is only the 2nd largest island after Antarctica. Antarctica is technically an island like Australia (even though both are classified as continents). Antartica is 5,400,000 sq miles.
wrong...australia is only the second biggest island. Antarctica is the biggest island in the world at 5,400,000 sq miles and Australia is only the second biggest at approx. 2,900,000 sq miles. Antartica is also a continent so if you include one as an island you have to include the other. It is a fact..australia is NOT the biggest island..sorry.
Def: island = body of land surrounded by water. Eurasia and Africa are taken to be continents. The combined landmass is also an island. The two categories "continent" and "island" do not need to be mutually exclusive - although some do take them to be so.
By that logic, Europe/Asia/Africa would be the largest "island" in the world, followed by North and South America. Then Antarctica, Greenland, Australia...

While visiting Canada last week I took this picture:http://picasaweb.google.com/toddstanfield/OhCanada/photo#5073652771599471938which shows the island in Mindemoya Lake (Largest island in a lake on an island in a lake). The people we were visiting called it "Treasure Island". It doesn't have a name on Google Earth, so I think that is just a name given to the island by folks living on the Manitoulin Island.

Here are some pictures of Danua Toba, it's really beautiful there. But if you order fish, be careful because they eat goldfish, that they hunt with plungers (no joke).http://flickr.com/photos/29588533@N00/875435896/
