Well for one he says (paraphrased) "Here is a nice GUI installer for programs... forget that and use this nifty command line instead" ERRRRrrrrr! As soon as you tell a normal user to use the command line you immediately turn them off. I think ubuntu is pretty much at the point where you don't need the command line but if you feel comfortable learning the command line then it does make things easier. So the command line is harder to learn and intimidating but once you know what you are doing you can do certain things easier and quicker then with the GUI.

Please, go download the Linux Mint user guide and see how that is written. It is 100% easier to follow for a newbie than yours. I'm sure there are other guides as well you might wanna read. Sorry but I would not give your guide to a newbie it would confuse them more than help, it really would.
