mises.org — Failure is no fun, but it does teach essential lessons. We shouldn't miss out on those lessons simply because we think we can afford to bail people out. Instead of trying to abolish failure via bailouts, we should let markets work, let failure run its course, and be so much the wiser for it.

The root of government corruption is government power. If government didn't have the power to grant economic favors, lobbyists would disappear virtually overnight and our politicians would be left squabbling over minor issues as people acted in their own best interests, knowing their contracts would be enforced and their property their own.

Or we simply impose term limits so they don't need to worry about getting re-elected. How about 1 term and you're out?

I see where you're going also, but I'd like to add a few minor "conditions" for all members of both Houses of Congress and the president's cabinet:Term Limits and age limits ... now!Same social security fund as "we, the people" ... now!Same medical care and same medical insurance as military retirees.New ethics standards (personal, social, financial) voted upon and passed by "we, the people" ... now(i.e., no matter how rich you are, if you kill a woman, you're outta the Senate and your retirement package is gone!) ... (same for tax cheats) ... sorry Ted, Tim and Charlie, you're outta there ... now!If you want to run for the Senate or the Presidency, fine, but you MUST resign your existing seat first! We're paying you to work, not to run for something! No more recess! That's when kids play! You are grown ups now! Weekends off, when and if you're lucky.Senators and Congressmen can and will be held in contempt of the people! Details can be worked up in a hurry!Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents must get FULLY investigated for security clearances just like "we, the people" do!Any questions?
