My parent's just bought a 3 bedroom house around that area, nothing fancy, for approximately $1.1 million a few months agoI rent a little 2 bedroom apartment in SF for $2050 a month with some roommates...After reading some of the comments from this story, it is amazing to think that my parents could be living in a mansion and I could be renting a nice home rather then a little apartment elsewhere. It's a whole different world out there.
I understand that the area is expensive. That doesn't negate the fact that a house that's about 3/4 of a million dollars is being considered a shack. Trade that house with someone in an urban ghetto and see what you get. A $600k house is beyond the dreams of most people. Do you people even understand why houses cost more in some places? A house that may cost $60k in KY will cost $600K in Hollywood CA. Yes, it's true! But why is that? Because: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! I'd buy a cardboard box in the 90210 zipcode because I'd be sure that I could rent it out for what it'd cost for a 3 bedroom apartment in New England. That's not the point. It's still not a "rag to riches" story. Sorry, it just aint.
