it really was. I'm surprised they didn't touch on all the trouble they had with the REAL mafia during filming. There's a couple documentaries online about it. A lot of the actors/extras were real-life mobsters, like the "may your first child be a masculine one!" guy.
It's been a while since I've read the book or watched Godfather III. In the book, wasn't the starlet the same woman Sonny hooked up with at the wedding reception? In Godfather III, wasn't the woman Sonny hooked up with at the wedding reception the mother of Andy Garcia's character (Vincent).

There was a small reference in the movie. At the wedding party, Sonny's wife uses her hands to show the length of Sonny.
