I define poor as people deprived of extrinsic motivation.http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/inmotiv.htm

This article is talking about the top fifth - that's the top 20%.According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_income_in_t ... you're in the top 20% if your household earns $87,500 per year. So a cohabiting couple earning about $44K each would be considered top 20%. According to the second chart on http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Country=United ... $44K is the median US salary for people with just 1 year's experience. Therefore, take two entirely normal, average-earning people, allow them to live in the same house, and BANG! They're the evil rich and must be punished by modern-day Robin Hoods.Honestly, the hysteria about pay gaps is utterly moronic. Sure there's a few people that earn amazing amounts of money, maybe the top 0.5%, but the rest of the top 20% of earners in the US are normal people trying to earn a living

Exactly what I meant. There are plenty of ass kicking billionaire christians. Usually the people who say 'praise jesus' in random sentences do that because they don't know other things. Making people ignorant but religious is a tool of power hording older than paper.

Hurray Frankengeek!!I agree 100%!!!!Frankly, I don't care how the rest of the world thinks ... If it weren't for Americans and American values the rest of the world would be thinking about surviving, not thriving. Nick111 is a socialist. The only reason socialism works is the existence of a country like America full of Americans.Liberalism reduces the human condition to the lowest common dominator. Ultimately, death and destruction.Frankegeek wrote: "If the American public wants green cars, power plants, etc they should be the driving force - not government!"PERFECT!

Actually, the number of people in poverty since 1959 has remained somewhat level and dropped slightly, and the poverty rate has dropped as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Poverty_59_to_0 ...I would also like to see where you got your numbers.

With each passing of regulation, taxes and other tools that close the market, the gap becomes larger. The fact is these self-proclaimed regulations aimed at aiding the poor/middle class only pull the chains tighter. We need only to look at history to find this to be true.

well we better take the money from those rich middle class snobs and redistribute it to the poor lower class people just trying to make it by. Class warfare...thats old communist propaganda dressed up in a modern suit...
