Um, if you are writing custom widgets for a business application... you are doing something wrong.Funny, every time I see a knowledge worker working with a large dataset it is usually on their desktop from a query they pulled into excell. I suggest you find a good book on multi-tierd programming, since you seem to want to describe it, yet you can't give it a name.

Maybe because you dont understand that Java is a platform, not just a language? It comes with VM, security, deployment, server containers, etc. Not to mention great libraries. THat is what article is talking about - freeing and empowering the programmer.

This is very nice piece about development methodologies. Forget about the dude's language biases, which are basically rubbish. The key focal point is design methodologies and testing methodologies, which largely language neutral. I happen to believe that C/C++ is largely out-dated and obsolete, but the methodology discussion is very good here.

What does one need to know to become a good software programmer..Do have good It background ust lack programming....I want to learn C-C++,.net etc...I figure once I get an understanding I could dive in elsewhere and where u can point me as an avenueyourmasonry@yahoo.com
