thinkprogress.org — Since Rep. Foley resignsed it’s become clear that Congressional leadership “knew for months about e-mail traffic between Representative Mark Foley and a former teenage page, but kept the matter secret and allowed Mr. Foley to remain head of a Congressional caucus on children’s issues.” Here is a timeline of the coverup.

f**k a Paige boy as a democrat, get censured!Send dirty e-mail as a Republican, lose your job and go to jail!Sounds fair and balanced to me!

Nero is a good example of what happens when the leadership is above the law. It happened before and to some extent it’s happening now. We had better do something about it in November before they vote themselves any more dictatorial powers.

There's a saying that the fastest way to end a career in politics is to get caught with a dead hooker or a live boy.Is three years 'fast'?

Bobbknight is right although both a Democrat and a Republican are guilty of statuatory rape. Neither resigned, and one even got re-elected<a class="user" href="http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/30/foley.quits/index.html">http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/30/foley.quits/index.html</a>"The page program, which brings young people from around the country to work on Capitol Hill, came under intense scrutiny in 1983, after two lawmakers -- Rep. Gerry Studds, a Massachusetts Democrat, and Rep. Dan Crane, an Illinois Republican -- were censured following their admission they had consensual sexual relationships with 17-year-old pages.Neither lawmaker resigned, but Crane was defeated for re-election in 1984. Studds survived the scandal and continued to serve in the House until retiring in 1996."

You idiots are talking about arresting people? These people didn't even resign for far worse.<a class="user" href="http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/30/foley.quits/index.html">http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/30/foley.quits/index.html</a>The page program, which brings young people from around the country to work on Capitol Hill, came under intense scrutiny in 1983, after two lawmakers -- Rep. I live in Spokane, WA and not too long ago our, now former, Mayor (republican) was caught by the local newspaper in almost the exact same type of behavior. He was caught having sexual IM conversations with underage males just like Foley. After a month of battling to keep his job the city voted to remove him. This is like Deja Vu.

@dgendreau, the timeline of knowledge of Foley's behavior goes back to 2001. 5 years worth of compliance with a suspected sexual predator - the knowledge of which could digg deep into the Republican Party.

Fringe liberals - @nixfu, what? Machine manipulated Ohio and Florida aside, the popular vote showed otherwise. What is fringe are the Republicans of my Father. Those men who have been sidelined by the Evangelical Right: hosted by W and his Neo-con thieves. If I were a Republican, not possible due to my protruding frontal lobe, I would cast my vote towards those men who haven't taken money from the Dobson's of the world.

What's your point? The issue, regardless of the past, is relevant. We, the people, hold the power (exempt Ohio and Florida) to elect our officials. Such decisions should be based on all available information. As opposed to those of you who handed over our country in 2000/2004 to these thugs due to issues like your position on abortion and or gay rights.
