Wow, you think pretty superficially. A credible declaration of opening new lands to drilling would *alone* drive away speculators and reduce long positions in the futures markets. Indeed, the move would increase short selling to take advantage of the unraveling of the long positions moving the price even lower. For once, think!

And I guess finding a job closer to where you live, or living closer to where you work aren't options, right? I understand it's difficult to not drive, but many people could cut back their mileage if they wanted to -- or needed to.
