Let me explain it to everyone under the age of 30. We're talking 1975 here. At the time, if you wanted "funny", you got to watch shows like The Carol Burnett Show, Laverne and Shirley, Sanford and Son etc. Lame ass nicey-nice s**t. Python had *JUST* come to PBS. SNL made it a point not to do the same thing that was in prime time. Sure it looks tame now but you had to have been there.
It has always seemed to me that you're either a SNL or a Mad TV-type person. I can remember being in high school and people saying, "I don't know how you can watch SNL so much... it's so political. I don't get any of the jokes." It's useless to argue. You either get it, or you don't. That's the great thing about comedy - no matter what your sense of humor, there's something out there for you.

Ah, comedy about death. How I miss you, Michael O'Donaghue.

Man, that really was not funny. I think it's so fascinating how humor changes over the years.

Classical reference. Can't remember what exactly. Maybe it's from "Coriolanus."
