rocketart.com — We've all seen the ads with the black silhouettes and the white earphones. This is the site of the retouch artist that made them that way. It shows what the models looked like before they were blacked out. (There are two image examples)

Apple iPod motto: "Image Is Everything. Substance Means Nothing."Apple is the AOL of my generation - it's for style conscious freaks or noobs. And the Apple commercials are misleading since only people in their 50s use Apple (not as techy and scary to them).

Couple of things:1. Both of these are from really old campaigns, I believe they go somewhere else now.2. This is just for the print campaigns, the TV commercial silhouettes are done by a company called Company 3 (usually, the most recent two were i believe done by Logan instead.)

Obviously, it isn't lame, or it wouldn't be doing so well.

Ad agencies like Chiat/Day (Apple's agency) generally charge a 15% commission on the value of the advertising budget. So if the Apple iPod campaign uses total $100M of airtime, magazine space, billboards, etc, the Chiat/Day makes $15M in revenue.I believe the agency pays the production costs, so after they pay that guy at rocket $200 an hour or so for retouching, they keep the rest of that $15 Mil.Of course I am only kidding about that last part.
