desmogblog.com — ?Clean coal? is a term that is getting a lot of coverage these days but the moniker makes as much sense as calling Paris Hilton ?pedantic?. As a fuel source, coal is as filthy as they come ? emitting about 67% more CO2 per unit of energy than natural gas.

we have to say that the comment by darth is not worth commenting on but jay whitlow has been to visit coal mines and he also has studied the pollution that plagues the same areas but whitlow says the pollution is coming from midwestern coal-fired plants and that it finds its way back to appalachia and jay just wanted to add that meth seems to be ravaging the same areas.eric y

If the choice is between coal and pretty much any other power source, I'll go with the other power source. But if the choice is between dirty coal and clean coal, I'd absolutely pick clean coal. Imagine if coal were held to the same ridiculous standards nuclear is.

Or replace them with nukes, which are hundreds of times cleaner.
