It's power and size. It can certainly handle the power requirements, if you don't mind your battery sucking. There's no way Apple will make the next iPhone bigger. It'll be a standard feature someday, but the Google Maps quasi-GPS is probably sufficient for most people right now.

i dont understand what all the fuss is about. I think its clear that there is definitely going to be a 3G phone very soon and I think its understandable that people should look forward to it happening when it does. A friend of mine said that other day that he really liked holding the apple phone in his hand with the touch sensitive keys but what had put him off was the slow internet speeds because he could not access the 3G

The difference here is that the US has 50% more people per land area, which means 50% more customers per 3G area covered, which means that it should be much more feasible for US companies to upgrade to 3G than for Swedish companies.
