Sounds very Jason Calcanis - back in the dot com days, when everyone in San Francisco was focused on creating cool technology in the old Silicon Valley model, his "Silicon Alley Reporter" magazine seemed to care more about how much money businesses were able to raise.There's always been a contrast between the people who get into tech for the technology, and people who get into it because they have dollar signs in their eyes.

Not a very good index. Their choice to have a price-weighted index will make the index difficult to interpret. They should have opted for equal-weighted since it's not real money. Market-cap weighted would also have been acceptable.In the current model, Research in Motion has an 8% weight for no apparent reason. price-weighted indices give more weight to high stock prices.
