Yea personally I prefer mini cd-rw. Jumpdrives are nice but you never know when you will need to use your jumpdrive and the computer can't recognize it or its old enough that it does not have USB or it is against a wall or in a cubby where its hard to reach the USB Port. Mini CD-RW work on any CDROM drive and all computers post 1990 have cdrom drives.
I'd still keep a floppy drive in my computer (and still do). I'll find some use for it, however impractical it may be (mass storage utilizing multipart compressed files across many floppies? Let's do it!!!)
Try fixing an older laptop with no CD, and no pre-installed driversfor USB, or ethernet. Unfortunately it also has a broken froppy drive. But of all the things I could do to get access it, replacing the floppy drive so I can at least load the drivers for everything elseis the cheapest place to start.
