universetoday.com — It can be said that humans have a bit of a short term view of things. We're concerned about the end of summer, the next school year, and maybe even retirement. But these are just a blink of an eye in cosmic terms. Let's really think big, stare forward in time, and think about what the future holds for the Universe.

Agreed. Why the hell would "now" have to be the middle of the human population continuum? The assumption sounds a bit Copernican to me. Your ad hominem and appeal to authority means that you fail at logic, moose.

The article is a description of what conclusions can be drawn at the limits of our current cosmological knowledge. It's unimportant for the moment, yes, but interesting nonetheless. Also, this data comes as a side effect of our cosmological knowledge, not as its target. Using data sets from astronomical surveys meant to expand our knowledge of the current universe, we can extrapolate that which is likely to happen in the distant future of it. It may be wrong, mind you, but its the best predictions we have to date.

Short sighted sheep, yes most of the time... however, even if we weren't that way by nature, there is no amount of planning you can do for this... LOL
